THE RULES

Solo acts and bands are welcome to sign up!

*Nov 2 date applies only to Northwestern College's students

On Nov 2, Nov 16, and Nov 23: All performers must be available from 12 PM to 7 PM in order to attend a 30 to 45-minute soundcheck prior to the events.

On Nov 2, Nov 16, and Nov 23: All band members must be backstage by 7:30 PM in order to prepare for the event start at 8:00 PM.

Semi-Finals: Only the top 10 bands (5 from each college) will be selected to perform for semi-finals. Each band will perform one song at semi-finals.

Only the top 6 bands (3 from each college) will be selected to perform for finals. Each band will perform two songs at finals.

Declaring winners: Both the top Dordt band and the top Northwestern band will be recognized as winners. Between those two top bands, the band with the most votes will be declared 1st place and the band with the second most votes will be declared 2nd place.

1st place will receive $600, and 2nd place will receive $400

All contestants must have a singer. Remember: Solo acts are welcomed! All bands may use a karaoke track if they do not know how to play instruments.

The lead singer(s) can only compete in one act. Other performers (clarifier: those with a special skill playing certain instruments) are allowed to help out and be a part of other bands. Vocalists may only participate in one band.

New rule: If your band does not make it past auditions, then semi-finalist bands can ask the performers from those bands to join their band. This is the only time bands may add members to their band during the NC/DC process. (Clarifier example: Band A auditions for NC/DC but does not make it to semi-finals. Band B auditions and makes it to semi-finals. Band B can ask members from Band A to join their band for semi-finals and finals. This is the only time Band B is allowed to add members to their band. Band B will not be able to add band members after Friday, November 8.)

Creativity is welcomed! But must be planned ahead of time. All bands must have their semi-finals and finals plans ready by Friday, November 8. These plans include: all band members, song choices, instrument needs, and any creative elements. Bands that move onto semi-finals will receive an email with all necessary information regarding their future performance plans.
